Breeding
Falabella breeding has kept Falabella horses pure by breeding only purebred with purebred for many years. The name is known and recognized the world over. The average height for a full grown Falabella is between 28 and 34 inches. Foals mature to adult height by the age of three. The breed is similar to Thoroughbreds and Arabs having sleek coats and slim frames.
Assurance of a purebred Falabella
The Falabella breed has a small studbook. There are only 800 in Europe, and only a few thousand exist in the entire world. Only 57 new foals were born in 2013. This makes the breed unique and special. On the other hand, the chance of inbreeding is prominently present making them difficult to breed.
In order to prevent inbreeding, all of our Falabella horses are registered at the EFS (European Falabella Studbook). You can find all of the information on the breed here. You can check EFS website for more information.
With registration at the EFS, their DNA is tested to ensure the horses are 100% purebred. Kinship is also established by conforming both mother and father. By doing so, this reestablishes that you receive a purebred.
Falabella breeding programme
In our Falabella breeding programme, we aim to achieve the following goals:
Maintaining the breed
Improving quality and characteristics of the breed
Preventing inbreeding and hereditary flaws
Our goal is to breed luxurious animals in proportion with attractive Arabic heads. We breed with quaint colours like Carmello and Appaloosa with blue eyes. This gives you a breed that is unique in both quality and appearance.
